2k Clear Coat Over Rustoleum Enamel

Would be interesting if someone would try it and see how it works.
2k clear coat over rustoleum enamel. I think the clear coat must be more laquer based and spraying. Auto body paint is easy to apply dries fast and can be buffed to a brilliant finish after the clear coat has been applied. Mix the last coat 50 50 paint and urethane then one or 2 coats of straight urethane. Clearcoat over some types of high.
In fact i shot it over the old paint and rattle can primer spots without issue. I used rustoleum clear coat over metalspecks which i discovered earlier the hard way that it s a laquer based paint and it worked fine. I use spray max 2k clearcoat. More coats can be applied any time.
Clear coat over rustoleum ppg makes a fleet enamel about 65 a gallon w reducer. Much better product for spraying rustoleum is a fine product but not for spraying so much enamel is a single stage type paint pre clearcoat so why clear it. 7400 system dtm 450 voc alkyd enamel rust oleum s original rust preventative direct to metal dtm coating. For the dash i would use krylon and a clear coat over that.
Do not take this as a recommendation it is strictly something i heard about and do not guarantee it. I have heard that you can use hardware store urethane for clear coat with rustoleum. Just stick with the normal gloss protective enamal and crystal clear enamal. At least 3 coats of your base color allow 1 day to dry between coats and wet sand with 400 to 600 grit then apply your clear coat the same amount as your base color same drying time and wet sand first with 400 to 600 grit.
Provides protection from rust and corrosion. Don t be like me though and use a single part clear coat gasoline dissolves it. I am not an authority on paint and i would never claim to be but i shot a 2 part urethane clear coat over rustoleum enamel on the roof of my 49 without issue. Best part is it will be long lasting durable paint.
I put a 2k clear from spray max over my 3 96 can of rustoleum and it turned out amazing. I ve had this happen with the rustoleum 2x stuff. 7 months of sitting in the sun rain and dirt looks like the day i shot it. Dries quicker than enamel and is easier to rub out and compound in the long run.
